School Location

Umoja along Moi Drive Next to Umoja Primary School. Within ACK ST. LUKE’S PARISH compound.

HISTORY

St Luke’s Academy was started in 2008 by the then Vicar Humphrey Muraguri. It began by enrolling 5 pupils in the pre-school section. It had one teacher and the secretary who carried out different roles. The classrooms were made of iron sheets.

Purpose 

The school was started with an aim of offering the church members as well as the community around a Christian environment for their children to acquire quality education.

Growth and Development

The school has grown since inception to a big complex with 15 staff members and 260 pupils. It now stands on a four storey building hosting pupils in over 13 classrooms with facilities which include a computer classroom and administration office.

Achievements

The school boasts itself in developing learners by giving them quality education. The school did its first KCPE in 2018 and recorded its highest mean score of 330 marks.

In the year 2020 the school produced its best performing pupil, Onnette Njeri who got a total of 380 marks and joined St. Francis Girls’ High School which is a National school.

The school staff has grown from one teacher to 13 teachers with two support staffs.
The school population has grown from 5 pupils who joined when the school began to currently 260 pupils.

The school infrastructure has greatly improved with modern classrooms and equipment such as modern desks, whiteboards, computers, televisions etc.

School Management

The school Patron is the Vicar in charge of St. Luke’s Parish-Umoja. It has a Board of Management appointed by the Vicar-in-Charge. It has a head teacher, deputy head teacher and a senior teacher.

Challenges

The school catchment area is Umoja which has middle working class who are faced with high standards of living. Most of the parents struggle to pay for their children’s fee. This has made the school to experience slow growth rate.
